What is a Resto-Mod?

This is simply a new term for an old concept. It stands for Restored-Modified.  Not to be confused with customized, Resto-Mod cars are not only restored, but also moderately and tastefully modified.

Chip Foose is a master of Resto-Mod, and you can see samples of his excellent work by clicking here or the link on the left menu.  In many of Chip's episodes of his Overhaulin'  TV show,  the finished product would be a beautiful example of  Resto-Mod.

One example is Chip's '56 Ford F100 "Overlord". He did a 2" cowl chop, pancaked the hood 2", and moved the front wheel wells forward 6 inches.  These small, but significant changes make the casual onlooker know something was changed, but not quite certain what.

The Dodge Challenger and other vehicles below are  prime examples of 1st Class Restoration-Modification.
